چکیده

This article focuses on the place and importance of pity in Sophocles’ Oedipus Tyrannus. Although feeling or compassion is just basic emotional reaction expected from audience, it most important element that takes center plot Tyrannus determines course events tragedy. Sophocles made some changes about myth tragedy reconstructed an original way. Our main claim here this: The character's basis critical myth. For as was decisive when Laios’ slave did not leave baby mountain, but gave to Corinthian messenger raise him, there also intense fear behind Oedipus’ decisions led him investigate cause great plague epidemic city Thebes left administration Creon.
